THIMPHU โ The 24th Bhutan Football Federation (BFF) Congress was held earlier today at Hotel Ariya in Thimphu. The event saw the unanimous re-election of Dasho Ugyen Tshechup as the President of the Bhutan Football Federation. Mr. Pema Dorji was re-elected as Vice President, and Mr. Chencho Dorji retained his position as an Executive Member.

Additionally, Mr. Jigme Tshewang, President of Transport United FC, Mr. Yeshey Tshering, President of Thimphu City FC, and Dasho Singye Palden Yonten, President of RTC FC, were elected as Executive Members for the 2024-2028 term.

During the Congress, the minutes from the 23rd BFF Congress, the statutory audit report for 2023, and the activity report for 2023 were approved.

Addressing the attendees, President-elect Dasho Ugyen Tshechup reiterated his commitment to the overall development of football in Bhutan. Dasho pledged to focus on strengthening clubs and enhancing domestic competitions for the clubs to ensure year-round engagement. He emphasized BFF’s open-door policy, allowing stakeholders to approach the President and the board without hindrance. Dasho Ugyen also highlighted the importance of women’s participation in football, advocating for equal opportunities and recognition for female players.

The Congress was attended by dignitaries from FIFA, the Asian Football Confederation (AFC), the Secretary General of the Bhutan Olympic Committee, Presidents & General secretaries of the Bhutan Premier League clubs, the referee chairperson, and BFF staff.

With the re-election of its leadership, the BFF aims to continue its efforts to foster football development at all levels, promoting the sport’s growth and inclusivity throughout the country.
