Transport United FC (TUFC) wrapped up their BOB Premier League 2024 campaign in style today, defeating Samtse FC with a resounding 5-1 victory at Changlimithang Stadium. This victory marked the final match of the season for TUFC, bringing their total points to 41, with an impressive record of 13 wins, 2 draws, and 3 losses.
Having faced Samtse FC earlier in the season on July 18th, where TUFC emerged victorious with a 7-3 win, today’s match further cemented their dominance over the opposition. TUFC has been unbeaten against Samtse this season, showcasing their strength and consistency throughout both encounters.
From the very first whistle, TUFC showed confidence, and it didn’t take long for them to find the back of the net. At the 13th minute, Biku chipped the ball over the Samtse goalkeeper, giving TUFC an early lead. The first half, however, remained tight with both teams battling hard, and despite several opportunities, the score remained 1-0 at halftime.
Behind the scenes, the pressure was on — this match was a must-win for Transport United to finish the season strong. But the team’s calm and collected demeanor spoke volumes, as they entered the second half determined to seal the victory.
The second half saw TUFC come out firing. At the 62nd minute, our captain Ugyen Dorji (UD) doubled the lead with a brilliant finish, making it 2-0. Just a few minutes later, Peter added a third goal with a powerful header in the 65th minute, and the home crowd erupted in celebration. The momentum continued as Martins added his name to the scoresheet, extending the lead to 4-0 at the 68th minute.
Samtse FC managed to pull one back, but Kinley Penjor restored TUFC’s four-goal cushion with a beautiful strike at the 89th minute, sealing the game with a final score of 5-1.
Bikash Pradhan was named the Man of the Match for his incredible performance, showing composure and skill throughout the game. His presence on the field was instrumental in driving TUFC forward and ensuring they finished the season on a high.
