At Transport United Football Academy, the spirit of football isn’t just about the game—it’s about building a legacy. True to its vision of fostering a sustainable football ecosystem in Bhutan, the club is empowering its current and former players to take the lead in nurturing the next generation of talent.

Coach Nani, along with stars like Hari Gurung, Karma, and current players turned mentors Sangay Choden, Puja Rai, Dechen Wangmo, and Tshering Choden, are driving the academy’s winter grassroots coaching program. These passionate individuals are passing on their expertise and love for the game to aspiring young footballers, creating a ripple effect of inspiration and growth within the community.

Transport United’s President, Jigme Tshewang, shared his thoughts on the initiative:
“Our vision is not just about winning matches; it’s about creating opportunities. By empowering our players to transition into coaching roles, we’re ensuring the longevity and vitality of football in Bhutan. The academy isn’t just a training ground—it’s a family working towards a shared dream.”

The academy’s unique approach allows players to explore new roles while continuing their connection to the sport they love. Hari Gurung, a goalkeeper and now a coach, expressed his excitement:
“Being part of this program is an honor. Watching young players grow and knowing I’m contributing to their journey is incredibly rewarding.”

The current players like Sangay Choden, the transition to coaching has been transformative:
“Coaching is about more than teaching skills; it’s about instilling confidence and discipline. It feels amazing to give back to the club that shaped my journey.”

Meanwhile, Coach Nani, a cornerstone of the academy’s training programs, emphasized the importance of collaboration:
“Our goal is to build not just good players, but great teams. The passion these young talents bring reminds us why we fell in love with football in the first place.”

The academy’s winter grassroots program is more than just a training initiative—it’s a beacon of hope and opportunity for young footballers across Bhutan. Through structured training sessions and mentorship, the academy is nurturing a pipeline of future stars who will carry forward Bhutan’s football legacy.

Transport United Football Academy is a testament to the power of community and vision. By bridging the gap between past, present, and future, the club is creating a sustainable ecosystem that prioritizes growth, opportunity, and excellence both on and off the field.

As President Jigme Tshewang aptly puts it:
“Transport United is more than a football club; it’s a movement. Together, we’re not just shaping players—we’re shaping the future of football in Bhutan.”
