United for Women’s Wellness – Transport United FC Distributes Sanitary Pads At Transport United FC, we believe in the power of sport not only to inspire on the field but also to make a meaningful difference in our community. That’s why we’re thrilled to announce our latest initiative: the distribution of 1,000 packets of sanitary pads, generously donated by one of our well-wishers. Accompanied by disposal bags, these essential items are part of our ongoing commitment to promote women’s wellness and empower females across our nation. Women’s health is not just a matter of physical well-being; it’s about dignity, empowerment, and access to basic necessities. Unfortunately, access to menstrual hygiene products remains a challenge for many women, particularly in underserved communities. Lack of access to sanitary pads can lead to health issues, compromised dignity, and missed opportunities for education and economic participation. By addressing this need, we are not only promoting physical health but also supporting women’s rights and equality. As a football club deeply rooted in our community, we recognize our responsibility to use our platform for good. Our commitment to women’s wellness extends beyond the football field; it’s about making a tangible difference in the lives of women and girls. By distributing sanitary pads, we are breaking down barriers to access and empowering women to lead healthy, dignified lives. We believe that every woman deserves access to menstrual hygiene products, regardless of her socioeconomic status or background. We are inviting organizations and individuals who share our passion for women’s health to collaborate with us on this important initiative. Together, we can amplify our impact and reach even more women in need. Whether you’re a local business, a community organization, or an individual with a heart for change, we welcome your support. The Ascent of Kofi Dabanka: From Ashaiman to the Peaks of Bhutan
The Ascent of Kofi Dabanka: From Ashaiman to the Peaks of Bhutan In the bustling suburbs of Ashaiman, Ghana, where the streets pulse with the vibrant rhythm of life, Kofi Dabanka first discovered his love for football. Born into a family deeply entrenched in the sport, Kofi’s journey was influenced early on by his older brother, Bennash Quansah, whose career spanned several countries and leagues. Despite the shadow of his brother’s success, Kofi carved out his own path, fueled by a resilient spirit and a passion for the game. From the dusty fields of Ashaiman to the lush green pitches of Bhutan, Kofi’s story is not just about football; it’s about overcoming adversity, embracing new cultures, and inspiring a community. His early years were marked by challenges that tested his resolve. Unable to further his education, Kofi directed all his energy towards football, often facing societal rejections and financial hardships. Yet, his belief in his abilities and divine support never wavered. Kofi’s talent blossomed at Ashaiman Senior Secondary School, where he played alongside future stars like Thomas Teye Partey of Arsenal FC. These experiences not only honed his skills but also built his resilience and character, qualities that would define his career. When the opportunity to move abroad arose, Kofi was ready, though he knew the path would be fraught with uncertainties. His professional journey began in earnest with stints in India and Nepal. However, administrative issues and a postponed league left him searching for stability. This quest led him to Bhutan, a move that at first seemed daunting but soon proved fortuitous. Bhutan welcomed Kofi with open arms; its serene landscapes and the warmth of its people made it easy for him to call this new country home. Joining Southern City FC in Gelephu was a turning point. Here, Kofi’s prowess as a central defender became evident, leading to a significant call from Transport United FC, a club known for its professionalism and ambitious projects. At Transport United, Kofi found more than a team; he found a family and a platform to showcase his talent on an international stage. His impact was immediate. In the 2024 BOB Bhutan Premier League, a standout performance against the formidable Paro FC, where he was named man of the match, highlighted his defensive skills and leadership on the field. This moment wasn’t just a personal triumph; it was a testament to his journey from the challenging streets of Ashaiman to the spotlight of international football. Kofi’s life in Bhutan is a blend of football and cultural immersion. He has become a role model for young aspiring footballers not only in Bhutan but also back in Ashaiman, showing them that with discipline, hard work, and faith, barriers can be broken. His dreams continue to grow, with aspirations to play in Europe’s top leagues, yet his commitment remains steadfast to his team in Bhutan. As he looks forward to lifting the league title with Transport United FC, Kofi never forgets to express gratitude to those who have supported him: the club president, coaches, management team, media team, and sponsors. Singye Nindak Wangyal, Rising Star
Singye Nindak Wangyal, Rising Star at Transport United We are happy to introduce Singye Nindak Wangyal, the promising substitute goalkeeper for Transport United FC. At just 18 years old, Singye has already made significant strides both on and off the football field. A recent graduate from Hebron School in Ooty, India, Singye is preparing to further his education abroad, specializing in Hospitality Management and Tourism. Singye’s passion for sports ignited early, captivated by football at the tender age of four. By six, he had begun his journey in football, inspired by the dynamic plays he saw on TV. His affinity for the goalkeeper position was influenced by his skills in basketball, believing his ability to grip the ball would serve him well on the football field. Debuting at just 15 during the President Club tournament in 2021, Singye became the youngest player not only in the tournament but also within Transport United. Despite his age, he showcased his skills in a memorable game against Sherubtse College. Family plays a pivotal role in Singye’s life. He regards his parents as his main sources of inspiration and support, while his younger brother remains his biggest fan, continually motivating him to excel. Internationally, Singye looks up to Emiliano Martínez, the Argentine goalkeeper, for inspiration. Locally, he admires Hari Gurung, from whom he has learned invaluable lessons on and off the pitch. Singye’s philosophy is that education and sports are crucial for holistic development. He values the discipline, teamwork, and leadership skills he has gained from football, which complement his academic pursuits. Despite the assumptions some may have about his journey into Transport United due to his father’s presidency of the club, Singye is quick to clarify that his place on the team was earned through hard work and determination. His father’s advice has been clear: respect and a place on the team must be earned through commitment and performance. Looking forward to the BOB Premier League 2024, starting on May 11th, Singye is eager to contribute to the team. While he has spent much time as a substitute, he views this role as an educational opportunity, analyzing plays and learning from his idols to enhance his own game. This season, Singye is particularly impressed with the new management and technical team at Transport United. Their efforts to transform and uplift the club have not gone unnoticed, and he is optimistic about the future. As we gear up for the tournament, Singye extends his best wishes to all teams involved. With his dedication and passion, there is no doubt that he will continue to be a key player in the evolving story of Transport United FC. Transport United FC: A Legacy of Passion and Perseverance
Transport United FC: A Legacy of Passion and Perseverance The Transport United FC Legacy Reunion Project is a chance to reflect on our club’s remarkable journey, from its beginnings fueled by passion to its current standing as a force in Bhutanese football. Early Days and Championship Dominance (2001-2011): Our story began in 2001 with Nidup Dorji, a passionate football fan working for the Road Safety & Transport Authority (RSTA). Driven by his love for the sport and a desire to engage young people, Nidup, armed with his AFC B coaching license, founded Transport United FC. Supported by like-minded officials from RSTA, the club received funding and its name, reflecting its roots. Under Nidup’s leadership, the early years were a period of immense success. His expertise as head coach guided the club to an impressive record: four National Championship titles and four qualifications for the AFC President’s Cup, a true testament to the team’s dominance. Challenges and Resilience (2012-2016): The year 2012 brought a significant challenge. Financial difficulties resulted in relegation to the B-division. However, this setback did not dampen Nidup’s dedication. He remained at the helm, managing resources through donations and demonstrating unwavering commitment to the club. It took four years of hard work and perseverance, but Transport United FC finally secured victory in the B-division, earning a well-deserved promotion back to the National League in 2016. Coaching Transitions and Continued Success (2017-2023): Affiliation with the Asian Football Confederation brought new requirements. To compete in the National League, the club needed an A-licensed coach. In 2017, Nidup transitioned to the role of President of the Technical Division, paving the way for Ngawang Dhendup to take over as head coach. This change ushered in another era of victories. Under Ngawang’s guidance, the club achieved remarkable feats, including a National League win in 2017 and an historic double in 2018, becoming the first club to win both the Thimphu League and the National League in a single calendar year. This success was further amplified by qualification for the AFC Cup in both 2018 and 2019. Ngawang’s tenure ended in 2020, and Passang Tshering led the club for a year, securing a respectable 4th place finish. Ngawang Jamphel, fondly known as MJ, then took charge in 2021. Despite the challenges of the pandemic with most games played behind closed doors, MJ’s leadership secured a commendable 3rd place finish. Determined to maintain momentum, Coach Bikash Pradhan was appointed in 2022. The team started strong, winning the first edition of the BFF President’s Cup. However, the league season proved more difficult, resulting in a 5th place finish. In 2023, the club sought to recapture its past glory. Coach Kinley Dorji, formerly the Coach Educator, assumed the role of head coach. The season began brightly with a string of victories, but a slump in performance led to a change in leadership. Lobzang Dorji stepped in as interim coach, demonstrating exceptional resilience and leading the team to an impressive finish in 3rd place, undefeated in their final seven games. Looking Ahead (2024): With a new season on the horizon and Coach Pema at the helm, Transport United FC is fueled by a burning desire to reclaim its championship title. The club’s legacy is one of passion, perseverance, and a dedication to excellence. As we look forward, we draw strength from our rich history, ready to write the next chapter in the Transport United FC story.
Ugyen T Nadik’s Journey with Transport United FC
Ugyen T Nadik’s Journey with Transport United FC The year was 2017, and a celebratory roar echoed through Transport United. Escaping the B Division, they’d secured a coveted spot in the prestigious Bhutan National League. This victory reignited a fire within me – a passion to witness Transport United reclaim its past glories. So, I joined the club, eager to contribute as their dedicated media manager. Capitalizing on the burgeoning social media scene, we were among the first Bhutanese clubs to establish a professional online presence. Facebook and Instagram became our battlegrounds, and the first two years were a period of exhilarating success. Victories piled up, and crafting match reports, designing electrifying posters, and meticulously tracking statistics brought me a joy as potent as the thrill of each win. As our fanbase swelled, the demand for engaging content on social media mirrored their enthusiasm. My dedication transcended mere membership. Week after week, I poured my heart and soul into creating content, fueled by a fiery passion that burned brighter with each passing season. With the unwavering support of fellow members and our loyal fans, we tackled every obstacle, with the club’s well-being always paramount. However, by 2019, a yearning for evolution took hold. Since our ties with the founding organization, the Road Safety & Transport Authority, had loosened, we felt a name change was a logical step. We even designed a fresh logo and a captivating anthem, ready to usher in a new era. Ultimately, though, the weight of history proved too strong. We were swayed by the global recognition of the “Transport United” name and the rich legacy it embodied. We decided to preserve this heritage while simultaneously revitalizing the club’s image. Transport United FC boasts a legacy built on exceptional executives, a skilled technical team, talented players, and the unwavering spirit of our fans. We’ve weathered every storm together, enduring the highs and lows since our last major championship in 2018. My love for the club has only strengthened as we continue to rebuild and push for glory. As their media representative, my passion isn’t confined to words; it’s a deep-rooted commitment reflected in everything I do. Transport United FC transcends the boundaries of a football club. It’s a symbol of community, camaraderie, and dreams woven together. Every matchday, I step into the stadium buzzing with an electric anticipation. It’s another chapter in our club’s story unfolding before my eyes. The opponent, be it a fierce rival or an unknown force, does not diminish my unwavering support. This journey extends beyond the pitch. Our club is a beacon, inspiring the next generation of players and fostering unity within our community. From grassroots initiatives to charitable endeavors, Transport United FC represents more than just football – it embodies hope, resilience, and the power of collective spirit. Through the lens of media, my role is to capture and communicate this fervent passion to fans across the globe. Whether it’s crafting match reports, interviewing players, or engaging with supporters online, I strive to amplify the spirit of our club and share it with the world. My passion for Transport United FC isn’t just a job; it’s a calling. It’s a privilege to represent this club and share our journey. Every day, I approach my role with immense gratitude, boundless enthusiasm, and an unwavering dedication to the cause.
