Yeshi Wangchuk as New Head Coach
Transport United Football Club is proud to announce the appointment of Yeshi Wangchuk as the new Head Coach of the senior men’s team, effective immediately. A name synonymous with dedication, experience, and progressive coaching in Bhutanese football, Wangchuk brings with him a remarkable a decades journey in the game—spanning refereeing, youth development, and elite coaching.
With a coaching résumé built from the grassroots up, Yeshi Wangchuk’s career reflects a deep commitment to nurturing Bhutanese football talent. From his early days as a referee in the National League in 2012–2013 in Phuentsholing, to managing national youth squads at regional and international levels, his evolution in the footballing ecosystem has been both steady and inspiring.
Wangchuk has served in multiple key roles across the Bhutan Football Federation (BFF), including:
District Coach of Zhemgang (2014–2016)
Assistant Coach, U-19 Bhutan National Women’s Academy (2017)
Head Coach, U-14 & U-15 Bhutan National Women’s Academy (2018–2019)
Team Manager, U-15 SAFF Championship (2018, Thimphu)
Head Coach, U-15 SAFF Championship (2019, Thimphu), and FIFA Friendlies (Nepal)
Head Coach, U-19 Bhutan National Women’s Academy (2020)
Head Coach, U-19 FIFA Friendlies (India, 2020)
Assistant Coach, U-16 Bhutan National Boys Academy (2021)
Head Coach, U-17 Bhutan National Boys Academy (2022)
His recent appointment marks a turning point for the club as it sets its sights on building a strong developmental pipeline while competing fiercely at the highest levels of Bhutanese football.
In 2023, Coach Wangchuk capped his long-standing coaching journey by earning the prestigious AFC Pro License—the highest coaching certification in Asian football. This elite qualification, combined with over a dozen certifications from AFC, FIFA, and KNVB (Netherlands), adds invaluable depth to his strategic and technical understanding of the game.
