The long-awaited 2025 BOB Bhutan Premier League finally got underway today, and Transport United FC made sure it was a memorable start! In front of a buzzing crowd at Changlimithang Stadium, the boys in red opened their campaign with a convincing 3-0 win over a spirited Samtse FC side.
And what a start it was! Barely four minutes in, our very own Aka Baby got on the end of a peach-perfect cross from Jigdrel, nodding it into the back of the net to score not only TUFC’s first of the season but the very first goal of the league!

The second goal wasnโt far behind. At 38 minutes, debutant Fofana made an instant impact, tapping in another delicious delivery from Jigdrel, who was running riot down the flank. Fofana wasnโt done just yet. He returned in the 53rd minute with his second of the match, once again assisted by the unstoppable Jigdrelโa hat-trick of assists for the young winger!
Though the scoreline reads 3-0, it wasnโt all smooth sailing. Samtse FC had their moments, breaking through the defense a couple of times with dangerous chancesโbut luck and sharp goalkeeping were on our side. A couple of missed opportunities for the visitors kept us on our toes, but credit goes to Tobgay, who earned himself a well-deserved clean sheet and held the defensive line with composure.

This game might not have been the toughest on paper, but it was an important tone-setter. Transport United showed their intent, converting chances clinically, while Samtse FC will be left rueing what could have been had they taken theirs.
