Transport United FC Ladies Shine as 1st Runners-Up in the 2024 BoB Bhutan Women’s National League

Transport United FC Ladies kicked off their campaign with determination, making their way through the qualifying rounds to secure a spot in the main tournament of the BoB Bhutan Women’s National League 2024. Starting on August 6, 2024, the tournament concluded yesterday, September 26, 2024, with TUFC Ladies emerging as the proud 1st runners-up. RTC FC, with their solid defense of the title, were crowned champions for the second consecutive time.

This season’s journey has been one of immense pride and progress for Transport United FC Ladies. Apart from lifting the 1st runners-up trophy, the team also secured the prestigious Fair Play award, a testament to their discipline, sportsmanship, and respect for the game and their opponents. Their commendable attitude, which includes less yellow cards and consistent respect toward referees and opposition teams, played a significant role in securing the Fair Play award.

Adding to their accolades, 𝐏𝐞𝐦𝐚 𝐂𝐡𝐨𝐝𝐞𝐧 𝐓𝐬𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠, the captain and inspirational leader of the squad, was named the Most Valuable Player of the tournament. Pema’s leadership on and off the pitch was unmatched, and she was pivotal in every key moment throughout the campaign. A month prior, she proudly represented Bhutan in the FIFA friendly match against Bangladesh, where she showcased her skills by scoring a crucial goal. Her dedication and passion for the game were truly deserving of the MVP honor.

This season also saw the inclusion of three talented players from Nepal—striker Jenifer Rana Magar, defender Khusma Rai, and goalkeeper Susila Kumari Chaudhari. The trio made a significant impact, bringing strength and versatility to the team. Jenifer’s clinical finishes, Khusma’s solid defending, and Susila’s crucial saves played an essential role in TUFC’s strong performance.

Head Coach Dorji Khandu led the women’s team with remarkable strategy and composure, assisted by Karma and managed by Kinley, forming a formidable team that brought out the best in the players.

Coach Dorji Khandu expressed his pride, stating: “This tournament has shown the heart and grit of our team. We fought hard, learned from every match, and ended with a trophy we are proud of. This is only the beginning.”

Assistant Coach Karma also shared her thoughts, saying: “The girls have shown remarkable resilience and teamwork throughout the season. We’ve seen growth in every player, and I’m confident we will come back even stronger.”

President Jigme Tshewang congratulated the entire team, saying: “You’ve made Transport United FC proud. The determination, spirit, and sportsmanship you displayed throughout this tournament are the values we stand for. Congratulations on this incredible achievement, and let’s aim even higher next season!”

A heartfelt thanks goes out to the management, sponsors, physios, technical team, and all the well-wishers who made this journey possible. Your unwavering support has been the backbone of our success, and we are grateful for every contribution.

While this season’s journey has come to a close, the story of Transport United FC Ladies is far from over. With heads held high and hearts full of passion, they vow to work even harder for the next season. The fire within burns bright, and TUFC Ladies will return stronger, more determined, and ready to claim the title.
